As a hospitality management student, you must complete two internships, one in your sophomore year and one in your senior year. Our students pursue a wide variety of companies for their internships including hotels, restaurants, resorts, ballparks, convention centers, small businesses, sports clubs, country clubs, facilities management companies, associations, government agencies, and national parks.
Each internship requires a minimum of 400 hours per three-month period (400 for the sophomore internship and 800 hours for the senior internship) and must be completed at a Kendall-approved internship site. Your academic coursework, regular performance evaluations, and a business analysis of the internship site measure your work performance and your understanding of business concepts applied to professional work environments.
Internship Prerequisites:
Before starting an internship, you must be in good academic and financial standing, attend and pass the Professional Development classes, and meet with your Career Services Counselor.
Sophomore Internship:
This opportunity lets you challenge, test, and hone the fundamental knowledge and skills you acquire and develop in your first two years.
Senior Internship:
This opportunity typically helps you develop supervisory skills, rotate through various hospitality positions, or gain in-depth experience in a chosen concentration.
