If you are looking to change careers, start a small business, or complement the work experience you already have with professional, hands-on culinary skills, Kendall College’s Culinary Arts Certificate programs are an ideal stepping stone. You will learn basic culinary arts skills and knowledge and gain exciting firsthand experience in the kitchen. Kendall Culinary Certificate programs expose you to the real world of professional cooking, baking, catering and working as a personal chef making it easy to specialize, especially if you already have industry experience.

Taking place in the evenings, our Certificate program classes are very convenient for working people to attend, and programs start up four times a year. You can easily complete a four-quarter Culinary Certificate program in one year or less, which means you’ll soon have the skills and knowledge needed to move ahead, whether that’s starting a home-based catering business, opening a small bakery and pastry shop, or even becoming a personal chef.

Program Description

The School of Culinary Arts at Kendall College offersthree certificate programs:

Baking and Pastry Certificate:

Thinking of entering the baking and pastry field? Kendall’s Baking and Pastry Certificate offers a rich, introductory overview of the baking and pastry arts. This 24-quarter hour program equips you with a practical, hands-on education that can be completed in less than one year. Students who complete the Certificate program may wish to continue their education in our Associate or Bachelor Culinary Arts degree programs.

Professional Catering/Personal Chef Certificate:

Have you ever considered becoming a personal chef or starting a small catering business? Kendall’s Professional Catering/Personal Chef Certificate is a great way to establish a strong foundation in the culinary industry so you can pursue your interests. In addition to learning cooking fundamentals, you will explore the business and marketing side of these creative professions.This 24-quarter hour program is taught by Kendall faculty and is an ideal way to learn more about the field on a part-time basis.

Professional Cookery Certificate:

Are you looking to enter the restaurant and foodservice industry or expand your culinary arts knowledge and proficiency? Kendall’s Professional Cookery Certificate provides a practical, specialized culinary skill set that serves as a solid foundation for future culinary endeavors. This 24-quarter hour program is taught by Kendall faculty. Students who complete the Certificate program may wish to continue their education in our Associate or Bachelor Culinary Arts degree programs.

Degree Requirements

All standard entrance requirements apply. Credits are evaluated to determine course work required for degree completion. All certificate students must pass the appropriate practical and/or written exams to complete the Kendall Culinary Arts Certificate program.
