Application Process for International Students

Welcome to Kendall College! The following information applies to international students who are not currently enrolled in a partner school within the Laureate International Universities network.

International students are permitted to apply for, and enroll in, any of our full time degree granting programs. Applicants who do not meet the Academic Entry Requirements will be required to take the Kendall College New Student Assessment as a part of the admission process.

In order to complete the application process at Kendall College, international students are required to submit:

1. Application for Admission & Essay

To apply, please complete our online application essay.

2. Proof of English Language Proficiency

Kendall College requires one of the following exams as proof of English proficiency for students that are non-native English speakers. The following scores are required for admission to Kendall College:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (Academic TOEFL)
Kendall’s TOEFL Code 1366
– Internet-based TOEFL: 71 or higher with minimum subscores.
       All components must meet minimum level of 17.

International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS)
– 5.5 with minimum subscores
       Speaking and listening: 5.5
       Reading and writing: 5.0

Provisional admission is available for those that do not meet our English requirements, see details below.

Provisional Admission to Kendall College

Applicants who do not meet Kendall’s published English Proficiency requirements may be offered provisional admission at two levels.

To be eligible for provisional admission, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Provisional Admission with a credit-baring course:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (Academic TOEFL)
– Internet-based TOEFL: 64 – 70
– International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS): 5.0

Provisional Admission with English language only classes:

– Internet-based TOEFL: 41 – 60
– International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS): 4.0

Provisionally admitted students must successfully complete Kendall’s English Language Institute (ELI) courses. Upon successful completion of the ELI courses, or once documentation that meets Kendall’s published English Proficiency requirements is provided, provisionally admitted students will be admitted to the College.

3. Official Documents

Submit one of the following:

  • Official Secondary-School Transcripts, Marks Sheets, or Ending Examination Results. Proof of high school graduation required before students start classes.
  • Official College or University transcripts.

Please note: English translations will be required in addition to the original language documents. All foreign credentials must be evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation service, such as Educational Perspectives. In certain cases, photocopies will not be accepted. Kendall College will facilitate this process for you. If you use a service other than Educational Perspectives, please ensure that the company is approved and recognized by NACES.

Electronic official transcripts should be sent to kendalladmissions@kendall.edu to be deemed official.

4. Official ACT or SAT Score Report

Kendall College requires all students who have graduated from secondary school to submit a minimum ACT composite score of 18 or greater or three-part SAT score of 1290 or higher. If you have university credit, then the ACT or SAT will not be required.

Students who did not take the ACT or SAT exam will be required to take a placement exam prior to admission.

Contact your Enrollment Advisor for more details. Applicants who do not meet the Academic Entry Requirements will be required to take the Kendall College New Student Assessment as a part of the admission process.


F-1 Visa Application Steps

To obtain a visa and enter the U.S. in the correct international student status, you require a certificate of eligibility: Form I-20 (F-1).  The following documents are required to receive your I-20 and apply for your student visa once admitted to Kendall College:

  • Provide proof, in the form of original bank statement, that either you, or your sponsor has access to the equivalent of US$33,500 (for business students), US$40,500 (for hospitality students) or US$45,000 (for culinary students) to pay for the first nine month academic year of tuition and living expenses at Kendall College.
  • Completed Confidential Statement of Financial Support (pdf). In the event the required funds are not in the name of the student we will need to receive a letter, in English, indicating that the listed funds are being made available for the student for their expenses at Kendall College.
  • Copy of the passport identity page. Valid six months after entry to U.S.
