Unique Educational Camps Provide High Schoolers First Glimpse at Careers in Business, Hospitality and Culinary Arts

CHICAGO, Illinois (April 25, 2009) - Kendall College is offering its popular educational camps this summer to high school students ages 13- 18 interested in learning more about careers in hospitality and business, as well as culinary arts. Plus, all campers who attend either one of the summer camps are awarded a $1,000 scholarship towards tuition at Kendall College!

Whether a student plans to be the next top entrepreneur or a high-powered hotel executive, Kendall's Backpack to Boardroom Camp is the perfect way to explore those passions. Students have the unique opportunity to embark on a weeklong behind-the-scenes journey into the world of business and hospitality through a series of team challenges that lead to exciting adventures around Chicago.

For the aspiring Chef, Kendall's Culinary Camps offer basic and advanced levels of culinary and baking & pastry sessions to teach students the ins and outs of culinary arts. From preparing delicious pasta and chicken dishes to baking tasty pastries and desserts, culinary campers are in for a treat.

"Kendall College's summer camps had a tremendous turnout last year," says Terrell Johnson, Director of Events at Kendall. "It's a great way for students to get out of the house and do something fun and social while experiencing an outstanding educational program that most other teens probably have not."

Backpack to Boardroom Camp
Due to an overwhelming response to Kendall's first-ever business & hospitality camp last summer, Backpack to Boardroom is back to offer students a fun and interactive hands-on learning style that focuses on concepts and skills required in today's business world. Campers will take special, behind-the-scenes tours of some of Chicago's famous hotels, businesses and restaurants for an inside glimpse at how the industry works. Campers will also discuss career success strategies with top industry personalities, develop leadership capabilities and teamwork dynamics, acquire poise and professionalism, hone a competitive edge, gain business and social etiquette and more.

Students have the option to attend this five-day session during the day only or stay overnight, too. The day schedule runs from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and costs $725 per week. Overnight campers enjoy additional activities from 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. for $1,150 per week, such as fine dining and Chicago sightseeing boat tours. Day and overnight camp sessions are offered July 6-10, July 13-17 and August 3-7.

Culinary Camp
Kendall College's well-known Culinary Camp offers introductory classes, demonstrations and lectures that cover culinary and baking topics. Summer campers will get first-hand experience in a kitchen where they learn from renowned Chef Instructors. Each session concludes with a special banquet for family and friends prepared entirely by culinary campers.

Culinary campers also have the option of attending five-day sessions during the day or stay overnight, too. The day camp is offered at $850 per week and the overnight camp is offered at $1,275 per week. Depending on the type of camp (culinary or baking & pastry), day and overnight sessions are offered on the following dates: June 22-26; July 6-10, 13-17, 20-24, and 27-31; August 3-7.
