School of Hospitality Management Launches New Concentrations

Kendall College School of Hospitality Management Launches Concentrations in Sustainable Management in Hospitality and Tourism, and Beverage Management

CHICAGO December 21, 2012 – Kendall College School of Hospitality Management is launching two new concentrations: Sustainable Management in Hospitality and Tourism, available to students beginning January 7; and, Beverage Management, available beginning April 8.

The Sustainable Management in Hospitality and Tourism concentration will focus on the strategic business value of sustainability, including resource management and its impact on operations and management in hotels, restaurants and related enterprises. The Beverage Management concentration offers students pursuing a career managing beverage programs in a variety of venues.

“We continue to work with our advisory board members to develop programs that help our students succeed in the rapidly growing global hospitality management industry,” said Emily Williams Knight, president of Kendall College.  “Hotels, restaurants, and sporting venues worldwide understand the business and environmental value of sustainable operations.  Our new concentration provides exposure to sustainability concepts and practices, giving students an edge with employers setting up or managing environmentally and socially responsible initiatives.  Likewise the hospitality industry is experiencing dramatic growth in global beverage operations, where understanding taste, pairing, management of finances, and how beverage fits in to operations are essential skills. I am confident that these new concentrations will provide our students with the skills and industry knowledge they need.”

In addition to new concentrations, Kendall offers concentrations in Hotel and Lodging Management; Restaurant, Food and Beverage Management; Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition Management; and a Glion Certificate in Global Hospitality Management. Kendall College is an official affiliate institution of Switzerland’s Glion Institute of Higher Education, now with a campus in London. All concentrations are 24 credits (six courses).
