U-Pass

What is a U-Pass?

A U-Pass is a deeply discounted transit card that offers all Full-Time students unlimited rides aboard all CTA buses and trains during an academic term. Whether commuting to entertainment venues, local attractions, galleries, shopping, night life, and sporting events, or after class - your U-Pass has you covered!

Who is eligible for U-Pass?

The CTA requires that students must be Full-Time to participate in the program. Full-Time status is defined as 12 credit hour or more. If you drop below Full-Time status, your card will be deactivated. Part-Time students are NOT eligible.

How will I be charged?

Each eligible student will be charged a nominal fee automatically to his/her tuition bill. This helps defray CTA's cost for offering the program. You will be charged even if you do not pick up your U-Pass. Failure to pick up the U-Pass does not eliminate the charge.

How do I get one?

Eligible students are responsible for picking up their U-Pass. All students MUST present a valid Kendall ID in order to receive a U-Pass.

U-Pass distribution days/times are announced at the beginning of each quarter. Look for signs on campus and email notices outlining days and times.

Where and how often can I use my U-Pass per day?

You may travel anywhere the CTA's busses and trains go, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as often as you want during the semester. However, you can't reuse your card at the same station or on the same bus line for 10-15 minutes.

Are U-Passes valid on PACE buses?

U-Pass is not valid on Pace, Metra, or with paratransit.

Can I share my U-Pass with my friends?

U-Pass is limited to exclusive use by the Full-Time student whose name and photo appear on the card.

Who can I call with questions or comments?

If you have any questions concerning your U-Pass, call the U-Pass Hotline 312.664.7200 ext.3051, Monday-Friday: 8am-4:30pm.
