Chef-instructor Melina Kelson-Podolsky, was honored with a 2012 Leadership Award from Modern Baking magazine in the Industry Service category.

April 2009

Vice President Christopher Koetke, CEC, CCE, received the inaugural Award for Excellence in Culinary Education from the Foodservice Educators Network International (FENI) and was named 2009 Cooking Teacher of the Year by the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP).

March 2009

Awarded the Academy of the Culinary Arts Cordon d’ Or – Gold Ribbon Cooking School of the Year Culinary Academy Award for 2008.

Retired Professor Glen Ramsborg, Ph.D., CMP, was recognized as Education Honoree at the PCMA Education Foundation Dinner Honoring Professional Achievement in 2011.

Kendall College students formed the first Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association (HSMAI) International collegiate chapter in Illinois in 2010 and the first Meeting Planning International (MPI) collegiate chapter in Illinois in 2009.

School of Business students helped launch the nonprofit organization “Fresh Moves” in Chicago in 2011.

Kendall College School of Business was the first college to partner with the “Jobs For Youth/Chicago Bridge Program,” giving greater access to post-secondary education to disadvantaged Chicago youth.

School of Culinary Arts students were the national champions in the American Culinary Federation Baron H. Galand Culinary Knowledge Bowl in 2010 and 2011.

May 2013

Culinary Students, Myra Viviana Proano and Danielle Welch, were awarded Scholarships from the Chicago chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI) at a champagne reception on campus on May 14, 2013.

March 2012

Jennifer Kim won the S.Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef National Competition in Napa Valley, California in 2012. This was the fourth time that a Kendall College student has won the national competition, which is a record, and the second consecutive win by a student enrolled at Kendall.

May 2011

Uyen (Nina) Nguyen won the first-ever Michelin Scholarship for Culinary Excellence in May 2011 and a stage at Eric Ripert’s three-Michelin-star Le Bernadin in New York City.

March 2011

Marco Bahena won the S.Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef National Competition in 2011, and was the recipient of the 2nd Edition of Sammic Scholarships through BasqueStage™, earning him an all-expenses-paid six-month internship at a three-Michelin-star restaurant in Spain.

2010, 2011

School of Culinary Arts students won the Central Regional Baron H. Galand Culinary Knowledge Bowl at the American Culinary Federation’s (ACF) Central Regional Conference for the fifth straight time in 2014 and first runners up at nationals in 2013.

January 2010

School of Culinary Arts students have won the S.Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef North Central Regional Competition for three consecutive years since 2010.


Sustainability

January 2017

The Dining Room at Kendall College has been awarded the Green Seal Standard for Restaurants and Food Services due to its implementation of environmentally responsible practices.

October 2010

Koetke received the first-ever Pathfinder Award from Chefs Collaborative in October 2010 for his dedication to raising awareness of the importance of sustainability in the food industry.

March 2009

Kendall College was named the official educational partner of the National Restaurant Association Conserve Environmental Initiative in 2009.

January 2007

Kendall College received the first Green Award earned by any culinary arts program globally by the Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) in 2007.
