Bryan Garcia Joins Faculty as Chef Tournant
The School of Culinary Arts welcomes Bryan Garcia as chef tournant, a new position that will enable Garcia to assist wherever he’s needed in the curriculum. Formerly an adjunct instructor teaching regional Mexican cuisine, Garcia will continue to teach that course, but is now a full-time faculty member.
Dean Koetke Named Educator of the Year
School of Culinary Arts Dean Christopher Koetke, CEC, CCE, was honored with the Educator of the Year Award for 2008 by Windy City Professional Culinarians, a chapter of the American Culinary Federation, Inc., in February.
Tom O’Brien Wins IFEC “Betty”
Tom O’Brien, an adjunct instructor teaching Foodservice Public Relations in the Culinary BA program and Food Writing for Certificate to BA students this semester, received the 2008 “Betty” Award from the International Foodservice Editorial Council (IFEC) in Cleveland in November. IFEC awards the “Betty,” named after Betty Bastion, the organization’s first executive director, each year to one member who has exemplified extraordinary service to IFEC.
