Kendall’s Fundraising Efforts Contribute More Than $8,000 to The Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund

As relief teams pour into Haiti from around the world, the Kendall College community has united to actively raise funds to support relief efforts. Through money donated by students and faculty on campus as well as by hosting two unique fundraising events, Kendall College was able to raise more than $4,000 for The Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund. To extend these efforts, Laureate International Universities, of which Kendall College is a network member, has matched Kendall’s donation.

Kendall College hosted two fundraising events in February and March, which highlighted Haitian-inspired cuisine. The first event was a Spice Up Your Life cooking demo on February 24, where Chicagoans learned how to prepare some traditional Haitian-inspired dishes and drinks. The second event, hosted at Kendall’s fine dining restaurant, The Dining Room, featured a fixed menu of Haitian-inspired cuisine prepared by Kendall faculty, students and Haitian-American Chef Maurice Bonhomme, Jr. of Pane Caldo Restaurant in Chicago. Both events drew nearly 75 people who contributed a donation to participate, and 100% of the proceeds were donated by Kendall to The Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund.

“We are proud that our Kendall College family of students, faculty and patrons showed such generosity in recognition of the disaster in Haiti. I’m thrilled we are able to contribute more than $8,000 to The Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund,” said Felicia Shallow Davis, Kendall College’s Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
