Kendall Hosts State of the Plate Kick-Off Event

Kendall College had the privilege of hosting the State of the Plate Kick-Off event on November 16. State of the Plate is the Midwest’s first one-day conference to develop and share best practices, information and strategies for creating a sustainable meat supply in the region. The conference took place the following day in downtown Chicago.

The VIP event at Kendall was hosted by Christopher Koetke, Dean of the School of Culinary Arts, who served on the event steering committee. Highlights from the evening included a Proclamation by Mayor Richard M. Daley of November 17, 2010 as State of the Plate Day in Chicago, video remarks by United States Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and remarks by Clarisol Duque, Director for U.S. Senator Richard J. Durbin. Additional guests included sustainable meat producers, distributors and retailers, as well as leaders in the Chicago sustainable food movement.
