KENDALL COLLEGE – NATIONAL LOUIS UNIVERSITY TRANSITION
On January 16, 2018, National Louis University (NLU), Laureate Education, Inc. (Nasdaq: LAUR) and Kendall College, LLC announced they have entered into an agreement whereby Kendall College’s current programs and other assets will transfer to NLU. The boards of NLU and Kendall approved this arrangement, with the additional agreement of Kendall’s parent company, Laureate Education, Inc.
This transfer of programs is contingent on regulatory approvals, including that of the U.S. Department of Education and the Higher Learning Commission, whose decision is expected the latter half of this year, but possibly as soon as the summer.
Under this agreement, NLU will offer all five of Kendall College’s degree programs–baking & pastry, business, culinary arts, early childhood education, and hospitality management–plus Kendall College’s general education programs.
All Kendall students will remain at their current campus until the transfer of these programs is approved, and Kendall’s Hospitality, Culinary Arts, and Baking & Pastry students will remain primarily at Kendall to utilize kitchens as needed until the new culinary and hospitality facilities are completed at NLU.

KENDALL – NLU UPDATE – JANUARY 16, 2018
KENDALL COLLEGE BOARD OF DIRECTORS STATEMENT ANNOUNCING AGREEMENT WITH NATIONAL LOUIS UNIVERSITY (NLU) TO TRANSFER KENDALL’S CURRENT PROGRAMS TO NLU, CONTINGENT ON REGULATORY APPROVALS
January 16, 2018
A Statement from the Kendall College Board of Directors
Today, the boards of both Kendall College and National Louis University (NLU) announced that they have entered into an agreement to transfer Kendall College programs and assets to NLU. (Press Release) This arrangement also has the approval of Kendall’s parent, Laureate Education, Inc. This transfer of programs is contingent on regulatory approvals, including that of the U.S. Department of Education and the Higher Learning Commission, whose decision is expected the second half of this year, but possibly as soon as this summer.
Increasingly, Kendall faced challenges similar to other small colleges in the U.S. The Kendall Board and leadership took deliberate steps to consider how best to preserve Kendall’s mission in Chicago, in the U.S., and internationally. Critical to these considerations was identifying ways to ensure current students can continue to pursue their chosen field of study and achieve their educational goals. The Kendall Board was pleased when the option to transfer Kendall’s programs to NLU presented itself. The Board believes this is an innovative and thoughtful solution that allows Kendall’s name and legacy to continue and provides a strong pathway for current and future students to continue to pursue their degree as part of the NLU community.
As part of this agreement, NLU will create a new college within the University that will be known as the Kendall College of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management at NLU which will include the Baking & Pastry, Culinary Arts, and Hospitality Management programs. With financial and professional support from Laureate and Kendall, NLU will build new state-of-the-art facilities for these programs. The Business and Early Childhood Education programs, and General Education programs, will merge into NLU’s existing programs.
We know the Kendall community and others may have questions over the coming months, and we are committed to providing further information on a regular basis directly to our students, faculty and staff, and will also use the Kendall website to disseminate information more broadly. Although decisions such as these are not easy, we are pleased that this agreement will provide our current students the ability to continue their studies and pursue their degrees in a strong academic environment that shares our values, commitment to offering professional education, and focus on serving our communities.

KENDALL – NLU UPDATE – FEBRUARY 8, 2018
On January 16, our communities learned of the agreement between National Louis University, Kendall College, and Laureate Education, Inc. to transfer all of Kendall College’s programs and other assets to NLU.
While this agreement is contingent on regulatory approvals, work has already begun to ensure a smooth transfer. We expect the decision by our regulators possibly as soon as the summer, and it is important to all involved that the planning is transparent, thoughtful and comprehensive. We are also mindful that both institutions are in the midst of Winter Term, enrolling for Spring Term, and are dealing with everyday business and the importance of keeping our students at the center of our efforts.
Over the course of the next few months, leadership at both NLU and Kendall will continue to provide updates on the progress of the transfer, focusing on academics, enrollment, facilities, regulatory and accreditation and student operations. We want to make sure you are aware of the work we are doing together to secure a vibrant and promising future for the students of both Kendall and NLU.
In addition to these regular communications, we are setting up a web page that both NLU and Kendall will be able to access that will provide information on the transfer progress. We will be sharing a link to that site soon. We want to keep the lines of communication open throughout the next few months. Please continue to submit questions or comments to our dedicated inbox: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The students, faculty and staff of NLU are eager to welcome the Kendall community and have captured their excitement in this video. As you will see, everyone at NLU looks forward to meeting you!
