Kendall College Graduate Self-Reported Employment Statistics
93% of graduates who sought employment within their fields of study reported employment within 6 months of graduation.
(self-reported—June 2016 graduating cohort)
Who was interviewed?
For the June 2016 cohort, Kendall collected initial employment data via a Survey Monkey exit interview that was emailed to all graduates at the conclusion of their internship or upon graduation. For up to six months after graduation, Kendall conducted additional follow-up via telephone and/or email with graduates who did not report employment in their exit interview. International students are included in this data.
What was asked?
The exit interview asks:
#8. Do you have a job after graduation? (Yes/No)
#9. Where are you currently working? (Job/Position Title, Company Name, etc.)
#11. I am currently seeking employment. (Yes/No)
#12. I am not seeking employment because (Drop-down list/Other (please specify))
The drop-down list includes the following: Continuing education, Military, Health, Caretaker, Retired, Currently employed, Employed or seeking employment unrelated to degree.
#14. Where do you want to work and what do you want to do? (Graduate fills in boxes for “Positions or Job Titles Preferred,” “Preferred Location of Company,” etc.)
What were the results?
Graduates who did not answer the exit interview questions about employment and also did not respond to follow-up attempts for six months after graduation were reported as “unemployed.”
Graduates were excluded from the results if they decided not to seek employment for any of the following reasons (see #11 and #12): continuing education, enlistment in the military, personal issues (i.e., medical, family) preventing work, student decision not to seek employment in their field of study or in a related field.
Kendall College defines employment in their field of study as follows:
- In-Field Employment: If a graduate is employed in an occupation that he/she was specifically trained.
- Related-Field Employment: a graduate is employed in an occupation that allows for use of the skills from his/her core program.
