President Emily Williams Knight's remarks touched on her pride for the graduating class, the commencement theme of "Own it!" as well as an important word and concept she wanted to share with the graduating class: courage.

Don Welsh, CEO of Choose Chicago, was chosen as the graduation speaker. "This will be as much fatherly advice and business advice as I can fit into a few minutes," Mr. Welsh said. "My first recommendation: use today as the launching pad for your future."

Graduates nominated their classmate Sarah Ball to be the 2013 student speaker. "Today, each of us will leave here...prepared to take the next steps in our lives. Aim to be your fullest potential. Each moment matters," she said. "We are all bound to be Kendall success stories."
