Apply for Financial Aid

Kendall encourages students to begin the Financial Aid process as early as possible. In fact, students may begin the Financial Aid application process before full acceptance by the College.

STEP ONE - FAFSA & Financial Aid Application

Complete the free 2009-2010 Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Use the information from your 2008 Federal Income Taxes and list Kendall College school code: 001703. In order to complete FAFSA process electronically you and your parent need to sign the form using your PIN.  You will be prompted to create a PIN when completing the FAFSA.

Complete and sign the applicable Kendall College Financil Aid application form below. Then mail or fax the completed form to the Financial Aid office at 312.752.2021

STEP TWO - Additional Documentation

The Financial Aid Department will contact the student if further documentation is needed. Additional documents may include signed copies of tax returns, proof of permanent residency or citizenship.

STEP THREE - Award Determination and Acceptance

Financial aid is is awarded by academic year based on the family's ability to contribute as determined by federal methodology, the overall cost of attending Kendall College, merit, and other eligible criteria including the number of credit hours, and program-specific requirements.

The Financial Aid Department will produce an award letter for review by the student.

The student (and parents for PLUS loan) will accept or decline awards, sign the award letter and the Master Promissory Note, and complete loan applications and counseling.

After financial aid has been awarded and accepted, a student with a remaining tuition balance must make payment by the published due date. View payment due dates

STEP FOUR - Disbursement of Funds

With one exception, a portion of each Federal award is credited to the student’s tuition account each term. A full-time student may only receive 3 full-time Pell awards during the year, and the State programs typically do not provide disbursements for the Summer term.

A first year, first-time borrower’s account will not be credited with Stafford Loans until 30 days after the first day of class and until the student completes entrance loan counseling.

Most financial aid is disbursed electronically to the student’s account in accordance with the terms/amounts listed on the accepted award letter once enrollment status and progress have been confirmed.

Please note: Although the College has no financial aid deadlines, some funds are limited. Students who complete the process early have greater opportunity to access these funds. It is important for students to respond promptly to any requests for additional clarification or documentation. The priority date for the next academic year is March 1, and students are encouraged to submit their FAFSAs and Kendal Application for the 2009-10 year by March 1, 2009.

Aid will not be processed until all required documents are completed and returned to the Financial Aid office.
