Apply for Financial Aid

Kendall encourages students to begin the financial aid process as early as possible. In fact, students may begin the financial aid application process before full acceptance by the College.

STEP ONE - FAFSA

Complete the Free 2011-2012 Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Use the information from your 2010 Federal Income Taxes and list Kendall College school code: 001703. In order to complete FAFSA process electronically you and your parent need to sign the form using your PIN.  You will be prompted to create a PIN when completing the FAFSA.

STEP TWO - Additional Documentation

The Financial Aid Department will contact the student if further documentation is needed. Additional documents may include signed copies of tax returns, proof of permanent residency or citizenship.

STEP THREE - Award Determination and Acceptance

Financial aid is awarded by academic year based on the family's ability to contribute as determined by federal methodology, the overall cost of attending Kendall College, merit, and other eligible criteria including the number of credit hours, and program-specific requirements.

The Financial Aid Department will produce an award letter for review by the student.

The student (and parents for PLUS loan) will accept or decline awards, sign the award letter and the Master Promissory Note, and complete loan counseling.

After financial aid has been awarded and accepted, a student with a remaining tuition balance must make payment by the published due date. View payment due dates

STEP FOUR - Disbursement of Funds

A portion of each Federal award is credited to the student’s tuition account each term.

Please note: State grant aid typically does not pay towards charges incurred in summer. Stafford loans will not pay until a promissory note and an Entrance Interview has been completed.

Most financial aid is disbursed electronically to the student’s account in accordance with the terms/amounts listed on the accepted award letter once enrollment status and progress have been confirmed.

Please note: Although the College has no financial aid deadlines, some funds are limited. Students who complete the process early have greater opportunity to access these funds. It is important for students to respond promptly to any requests for additional clarification or documentation. The priority date for the next academic year is April 1, and students are encouraged to submit their FAFSAs by April 1.

Aid will not be processed until all required documents are completed and returned to the Financial Aid office.
