President Knight Joins Governor Quinn on Trade Mission to Brazil

Kendall College President Emily Williams Knight will visit Brazil as part of a select delegation of business, education and government leaders from the State of Illinois invited by Governor Pat Quinn to participate in a trade mission seeking to open and expand new market opportunities, as well as strengthen the cultural and educational partnerships between Illinois and Brazil. The visit, which starts on September 23, will extend until September 29 and include visits to Brasilia, Recife and Sao Paulo.

President Knight was asked to participate because of Kendall ‘s number one ranking in Chicago for preparing students for careers in hospitality management and culinary arts (ORC International – Survey 2011), and its emphasis on internationality in its hospitality management, culinary arts and business programs. Students from 60 countries attend Kendall College, including students from Brazil.

While in Brazil, Ms. Knight will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universidade Anhembi Morumbi (UAM) that furthers Kendall and UAM’s academic collaboration during a special signing ceremony at the US Consulate in Sao Paulo on Monday, September 24. Governor Quinn will serve as an “Honorary Witness” to the signing.

“We are very excited to be part of the increasing educational and cultural ties between the State of Illinois and one of the fastest growing economies in the world,” said Ms. Knight. “Our collaboration with Universidade Anhembi Morumbi supports our mission to provide our students with international opportunities that will help prepare them to succeed in a global economy.”
